Situated 49 miles north-northeast of Denver and about 20 minutes east of Loveland on US-34, the city is bordered by the Cache la Poudre River to the north and the Platte River to the south, which flow from Fort Collins and to Denver, respectively.
Greeley is known for its agricultural roots and sizable Latino population. It features some of the best Mexican food in northern Colorado (scroll down for some of our favorites). Greeley is also home to the Island Grove Regional Park, which was once used as a regular campground by the Ute and Arapaho Indians as they followed game across the plains. Today, this park plays host to beloved community events like the Weld County Fair, the Greeley Blues Jam and the Greeley Stampede (a major rodeo and one of Colorado’s largest Independence Day celebrations). Greeley’s vibrant downtown features locally-owned restaurants and bars, plus such favorites as the Moxi Theater (a popular music venue) and the Colorado Model Railroad Museum (home to the largest HO-scale model railroad in the U.S.)
Greeley is also notable for being the most affordable city on Colorado's northern Front Range, with a median home price around 30% lower than that of Fort Collins and 15% lower than Loveland. The city features a diverse range of housing stock and neighborhoods with areas near the downtown core featuring historic turn-of-the-century (1900's) bungalows and many subdivisions in the west of town offering a plethora of newer homes and modern amenities.
